This story clearly illustrates how the Democratic Party is permanently fractured and is done being a political party of any consequence due to the continued attacks of the Clinton surrogates (why does Hillary Clinton continue to encourage her attack dog surrogates to go after Bernie and his wife? And why should she still need surrogates? Her political career is over), against Bernie Sanders. Sally Albright proves by her slam against “progressives” that Hillary Clinton has never been a progressive, let alone a liberal. And Peter Daou, like other Hillary surrogates, took a swipe at Bernie without bothering to check his facts first. It’s this divisive scum of the Democratic Party that show why they lost the presidential election and will continue to be the cause of the Democratic Party losing every coming election until either they’re all purged from the party or an actual Liberal political party is created.
Unfortunately there is no organized political party to mount any kind of strong political opposition to the Republicans. Fortunately, the GOP is at odds with itself as well. Unfortunately, it’s on a much smaller scale and will most likely be healed over after/if Trump resigns the presidency. Temporarily, but long enough to continue to win elections from here on out.
Greg Palast is one of the top (and few remaining) investigative journalists today. Which is why no news organization in the United States will touch him. Which is why he is based in Great Britain working for both the Guardian and the BBC. In this story, he explains how the GOP effectively suppresses the vote using both gerrymandering and illegally removing registered voters from the voting rolls in order to “win” elections. Seeing has now the Obama DOJ and the Democratic Party have refused to wage all-all out legal war against this (made more difficult by the fact that most states and courts are controlled by Republicans), it’s very likely that the GOP will impose their version of democracy on this country which will greatly resemble the “democracies” in Russia, Turkey, China, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Honduras, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, and, unfortunately, way too many more to list.
This Palast segment on Amy Goodman’s “Democracy Now!” primarily reports how the GOP is working to beat Jon Ossoff, the Democratic candidate for the 6th congressional district seat in Georgia. But it also lays out clearly all that the Trump administration and the GOP are doing to fix elections permanently in this country.

If there was truly any journalistic justice in the U.S., Greg Palast would be a multiple Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for his investigative reporting, something not seen to much these days since the corporate media, owned primarily by huge, media communications corporations like Disney, Comcast, and Fox, control virtually everything we see, hear, and read. Palast had the documented goods on the 2000 election stolen by the Bush campaign and certified by the GOP employees appointed to the US Supreme Court for that very reason. Palast has been forced to pursue his investigations into the US political system from London, England, working as a freelance reporter for both the BBC and the Guardian, as well as writing a series of the best exposé books on who actually controls and runs the U.S. political system and the global economy.
This article is Palast warning us of what is to come because it’s been happening all along, unbeknownst to the majority of American voters who don’t read Greg Palast. I think 2018 is our final chance to stem this GOP tide of voter suppression which is election-after-election moving us further down the short road towards becoming a fascist dictatorship. The Trump admin is already laying the foundation and doing the framing as I write this.
Democrats must set aside all the fingerpointing between the Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton factions. We’re all in this together because, if the Trumps and the actual sources of power behind them have their way, we’ll all be imprisoned together and all elections will cease for everyone else.
It’s great to see two overly-cocky, buffoon blowhards brought down in front of the world. Paul Ryan thought the AHCA was a done deal. It’s a poor leader who overestimates his leadership abilities. But then the intelligence and abilities of Ryan have always been overestimated by the his own party and by the corporate media. If it wasn’t for his outsized ego based on no tangible evidence of any foundation for it, he would resign the Speakership. But only a total idiot would choose to be Speaker of the House with this GOP in the majority, Ryan has been that idiot since October 2015.
Trump’s blaming the failure of the bill on the Democrats. Trump came into his fraudulently-won presidency thinking it was all government by executive order, that he would run the federal government and the entire country as just mere Trump corporate subsidiaries. Except for the hard core delusional who still think Trump’s doing a great job, his own party now has proof of his ineptitude and his failure to grasp reality as he lives in his delusional world within his suite at the Mar-A-Lago.
Both men have been shown that it’s easy to oppose and talk big in superlatives and lies. In other words, comedy is easy, actual governing is hard, very hard. And neither are cut out fo the work.
Now, the only real and present danger is Turtle Man McConnell fast tracking the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to SCOTUS. Not sure if the coming Democratic filibuster will do nothing more than delay that vote but with this display of the total lack of Trump and Ryan’s influence on their own party, maybe the Dems have a shot providing another embarrassing setback for the GOP if somehow they can turn aside the Gorsuch nomination, which is a long shot.
Here it is: Mike Pence’s opening gambit to display to the world that not only is he the real president behind the president but he plans to be the only president in the near future. This is the first step away from Trump regarding Donald’s ad campaign to make us believe Russia is misunderstood but friendly folks.
This is also Pence laying the groundwork for sounding presidential by announcing a policy towards Russia which is diametrically opposed to Trump’s. He’s framing himself as the future friend to Europe should he become president and giving Putin advanced notice as president he and Europe won’t stand for Vladimir’s expansionist crap. Perhaps Pence has inside info that Trump is not long for the White House? I think a whole bunch of stuff connecting Trump to Putin and the hacking of the 2016 election is going to bust loose in a few months.Trump will be forced out–or worse–and Pence will become prez via the 25th Amendment. The problem is that while Trump is a clown whose ego might cause collateral damage domestically and globally, Pence is the real and serious evil behind the clown. And the GOP is ready to embrace him as the president they really wanted to elect.
Today the United States of America officially downgraded itself to the status of a third world country. In my opinion, we have white male billionaire (and lowly multimillionaire) crooks and thugs in total charge of the government. And just like many third world country governments I think these men will rob us blind to enrich themselves and fill their own offshore, tax-free coffers. I think cutting federal spending by $10 trillion over the next ten years by dismantling or diminishing almost every program and agency that benefits the low income and outright poor, the sick, the environment, arts and culture, food, product, and workplace safety, When Janet Yellen’s term as Fed Reserve chair has expired Donald Trump will replace her with yet another white male billionaire. He will control the entire economic system of our country from top to bottom, enabling him and his cronies to hide the robbery of public funds from the Treasury.
As I’ve written before, we don’t recover from this. Now that certain elements within the GOP have perfected how to steal a national election, they’ll never lose another one. If somehow they are defeated in a future election, the social, economic and social damage began by Trump and continued by subsequent Republican administrations will be so great there will be no fixing it. there will be no reversing it any time soon after that, I put the timeline at about maybe 20 years or so. By that time, thanks to all the environmental protection dismantling by Trump, life on earth may be about over anyway thanks to the increase in the earth’s temperature. But I guess all you Trump voters will be happy as a clam, pleased as pumpkins, especially if the Republicans are still in power. Better Red (under a Republican government) AND dead than Blue (under a Democratic government) and alive.
