The Impeachable Hypocrisy Of The Congressional Democrats

I’m proud to be one of the prescient millions who foretold the almost immediate crash and burn of Donald Trump in the White House. If a wink is as good as a nod to a blind man, even the blind could see this coming from the onslaught of winking eyes as far back as the primaries. Make no mistake, Trump will turn the heat up on the Republicans so high they’ll have to doff their ongoing participation in providing cover for him and stand out alone in the cold light of common sense and allow themselves to be blown toward the inevitable: either the impeachment and conviction or the resignation of Donald John Trump, destined to have the shortest tenure in the White House of a tenant (I will not refer to him as the president) who was not forced to leave due to serious illness or death.

But, being the faIr-minded Farlefty that I am, it’s now time to out the Democrats for the partisan, opportunistic hypocrites that they are. Granted, Trump has committed more impeachable offenses in the shortest period of time after moving into the White House than all the other real presidents. But, his treasonous, unethical, and illegal transgressions haven’t cost any lives—so far. Contrast that with the treasonous, unethical and illegal transgressions of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld. They conspired to concoct a lie that would not only result in thousands (and counting) of American troops and the deaths of millions (and counting) Iraqi troops and citizens, and led to the total destabilization of the Persian Gulf, Mediterranean Sea and the Arabian Peninsula regions. They assassinated Saddam Hussein without having a single coherent and workable plan in place on how to fill the governmental vacuum left by his death.

And I said this was all built upon multiple lies, right? And from those lies they started multiple wars, decimating an entire part of the world for their own personal gains and those of their business cronies. Yet, in 2006, with the Democrats once again the controlling majority after winning the midterm elections, Nancy Pelosi made the announcement that impeachment of Bush &n Co. was off the table. The Democrats weren’t even actually in power until January 2007 yet she still kicked the shovel out of all liberals’ hands. And Harry Reid was right there with his foot on the shovel to make sure it remained impotently on the ground.

So, all this public outcry calling for the impeachment of Trump over his dangerously immature, illegal and treasonous activities has a very hollow ring to it. I want the guy out of the White House and relegated to an existence of public disgrace and humiliation, as well as the butt of stand-up comic and late night show host jokes for the rest of his miserable and hopefully less wealthy and connected life. But again, the high crimes and misdemeanors he’s perpetrated up to this point don’t even rise up to the level of the Bush administration outing Valerie Plame as a CIA operative through a Robert Novak column just to wreak revenge on her hubby Joe Wilson. But I digress.

So, save me from all this self-righteous chest thumping of the Democrats (albeit rightfully) demanding Trump’s head on a platter held by Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell. They had and blew their chance at positioning themselves as the sole guardians of the Constitution and safeguarding our democracy and governmental institutions. And following on the heels of the Republicans impeaching Bill Clinton over virtually nothing, they not only wimped out, they sold us out.  Yes, Trump deserves to be both impeached and convicted. But spare us the dramatic posturing and the self-righteous indignation, Democrats. You sound just as phony and self-serving as the Republicans back in 1998-99.

Will The GOP Hold Itself To A Higher Standard Or A Double Standard?

This is it. We’ve just started down the path to Trump’s impeachment. Unless the Republicans choose to show the world they have a double standard when it comes to impeaching presidents.  Bill Clinton was tried (which was a pre-arranged deal between the Democrats and the Republicans anyway) for lying under oath about having sex with an intern inside the Oval Office.

We’re about to find out if allegedly divulging code word classified information to a Russian minister and ambassador INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE is a textbook definition of treason, to add to his growing list of high crimes and misdemeanors already committed by the guy while sitting in the office of the president. I mean, does putting our country at serious risk of being compromised by the sociopathic Russian president who has access to his own nuclear codes rise to the same level as the Satyr-in-Chief telling fibs about getting a blowjob under the Oval Office desk?

We’re about to find out. The Congressional Republicans are now calculating how many black and otherwise Democratic voters they’ll have to purge from the voter rolls using Kris Kobach’s Interstate Crosscheck program to win the midterm elections next year. They’re about to hear Kobach tell them, “You’re gonna need a bigger vote.”

If there was truly any journalistic justice in the U.S., Greg Palast would be a multiple Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for his investigative reporting, something not seen to much these days since the corporate media, owned primarily by huge, media communications corporations like Disney, Comcast, and Fox, control virtually everything we see, hear, and read. Palast had the documented goods on the 2000 election stolen by the Bush campaign and certified by the GOP employees appointed to the US Supreme Court for that very reason. Palast has been forced to pursue his investigations into the US political system from London, England, working as a freelance reporter for both the BBC and the Guardian, as well as writing a series of the best exposé books on who actually controls and runs the U.S. political system and the global economy.

This article is Palast warning us of what is to come because it’s been happening all along, unbeknownst to the majority of American voters who don’t read Greg Palast. I think 2018 is our final chance to stem this GOP tide of voter suppression which is election-after-election moving us further down the short road towards becoming a fascist dictatorship. The Trump admin is already laying the foundation and doing the framing as I write this.

Democrats must set aside all the fingerpointing between the Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton factions. We’re all in this together because, if the Trumps and the actual sources of power behind them have their way, we’ll all be imprisoned together and all elections will cease for everyone else.

Obama WAS The Special Interests President

The story headline “In Chicago, Obama tells young leaders that ‘special interests dominate the debates in Washington’” is is total crap. From day one Obama was all about pleasing special interests by funneling unrestricted bailout funds to Goldman Sachs and the investment/banking industries in general. Yes, TARP was a Bush initiative but Obama and his special interest lackeys, Larry Summers and Timothy Geithner, made it like they were proprietors overseeing kids in a candy store, even giving out handfuls of candy, aka taxpayer funds, to kids like every day was Halloween night. The banksters knowingly and intentionally committed global financial fraud and not one CEO paid the legal price. We all paid for the bailout and not ONE institution was required to change how they do business to prevent it from happening again. Dodd-Frank? Please…

They’re still selling the same derivatives (under new names) and other unsafe “investment products” that are again propelling the financial industry to another meltdown. The housing bubble is building again (checked out home prices lately?) and once again it WILL burst.

Remember Obama’s pushing through of all those trade pacts? We’re now just learning of some of the secret offshore accounts owned by American citizens and corporations housed in Panama banks. Remember how he also tried to push the TPP and the Keystone XL crude oil pipeline? How about his months-long silence and hands off policy with the Dakota Access pipeline?  Additional construction of nuclear plants? Pushing charter schools to the detriment of public schools? The Obama presidency was all about special interests, except for the middle and low income classes. I guess we didn’t hold much special interest for him.

Obama didn’t do a damn thing to unify anyone. If he had, we’d have a Democrat in the White House, a Democratically-controlled Congress, and Merrick Garland, as flawed as he was, would be the 9th Justice sitting on the SCOTUS bench.

The Obama administration will not go down in history for what it was but for its failure to become what it could have been. If his “aspiration” was to unify Blue and Red states, why did he do so much to polarize all of us?

Trump And Ryan Prove Comedy Is Easy, Governing Is Hard

trump ryan

It’s great to see two overly-cocky, buffoon blowhards brought down in front of the world. Paul Ryan thought the AHCA was a done deal. It’s a poor leader who overestimates his leadership abilities. But then the intelligence and abilities of Ryan have always been overestimated by the his own party and by the corporate media. If it wasn’t for his outsized ego based on no tangible evidence of any foundation for it, he would resign the Speakership. But only a total idiot would choose to be Speaker of the House with this GOP in the majority, Ryan has been that idiot since October 2015.

Trump’s blaming the failure of the bill on the Democrats. Trump came into his fraudulently-won presidency thinking it was all government by executive order, that he would run the federal government and the entire country as just mere Trump corporate subsidiaries. Except for the hard core delusional who still think Trump’s doing a great job, his own party now has proof of his ineptitude and his failure to grasp reality as he lives in his delusional world within his suite at the Mar-A-Lago.

Both men have been shown that it’s easy to oppose and talk big in superlatives and lies. In other words, comedy is easy, actual governing is hard, very hard. And neither are cut out fo the work.

Now, the only real and present danger is Turtle Man McConnell fast tracking the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to SCOTUS. Not sure if the coming Democratic filibuster will do nothing more than delay that vote but with this display of the total lack of Trump and Ryan’s influence on their own party, maybe the Dems have a shot providing another embarrassing setback for the GOP if somehow they can turn aside the Gorsuch nomination, which is a long shot.

Jason Chaffetz, Just Another Elitist Snob Republican Politician Destroying The Country

Chaffetz
Ok, the guy’s an ass because he’s your typical elitist right wing snob Republican politician who will never have to choose between the two. Chaffetz is out of Utah but unfortunately he has the power to kill access to healthcare for people nationwide wide. We can post complaints about him and his ilk on social media websites all day, every day, but it will not make one bit of difference because their constituents will still vote to reelect them. To voters like those, no matter how bad their lives are made by the Republicans they keep in office, they fear liberals and Democrats far more. To the average Republican voter, no matter what hell they’re put through during the dance (should they even be aware of it) they’ll stick with the ones who brung ’em.

Contending that there should be a choice is what makes him and the Republicans both venal and murderous. They view health care as a commodity, something to be purchased if one chooses to. They don’t view it as a human right and as a core function of any enlightened government to provide at no cost to its citizens. I see that Republicans are murderous because they plan to limit the poor’s access to Medicaid. In addition, for those whose income is too high to qualify for Medicaid, their Obamacare replacement will boost health care premiums and costs even higher, because everything legislation they pass that promises to increase competition and lower costs actually do the opposite of both. Look at the costs of airfare, cell phone service, cable TV, and…healthcare, every other industry where mergers and takeovers were allowed to run rampant (the Democrats being equally guilty in this). Don’t buy into the analysis that Obamacare had nothing to do with the original Koch brothers’ Heritage Foundation healthcare plan pushed by Robert Dole and then implemented by Massachusetts under Governor Mitt Romney. The whole thing is Republican through and through except for the prohibition against denying people with pre-existing conditions and the Medicaid expansion (which many Republican governors refused to implement).

And now those who giveth plan to taketh away come 2020. Healthcare will cost more for everyone but members of Congress, the Prez and the VP, and, of course, the wealthy. The rest of us will have less choice and more costs. And then the Republicans plan to destroy both Social Security and Medicare in the very same fashion If only national elections were like an open primary where everyone could vote wherever and for whoever they chose. But if the Republicans have their way, in about ten years it will be only those who they have designated as deserving to vote who will rubber stamp all elections as Republican victories. When that comes about, what Trump is currently doing to destroy the federal government and this country will only be a precursor to irrevocable and fatal damage. You thought things were getting bad under Trump? Just wait…

Mitch McConnell Is Set To Let Slip The Dogs Of Judicial Chaos

So, what happens next in the battle for Scalia’s seat? Does Obama offer an “olive branch” SCOTUS nominee to the Senate, a judge with a corporate lawyer background who would be friendly to big business and moderate on most social issues? A candidate who would be a shoo-in with a rational, thinking person’s Senate devoid of the partisan political ideology of its hack Republican Majority Leader would order his people to approve? Judge Sri Srinivasan’s name is currently being floated as just such a possibility. Would McConnell dare pull down his drawers, squat down and crap on Obama, the nominee and the Constitution, using his butt in the effort to make a power grab?

Or, just to play with McConnell’s head and to further publicly embarrass him, does Obama nominate someone who is a real, certified REAL Liberal like State AG Kamala Harris of CA, for instance?

Last thing: Turtle Man is about to let slip the dogs of judicial chaos. In a split 4-4 SCOTUS decision or if the justices refuse to hear a case, the lower court decision stands. In the federal court system there are 12 circuits, most of them dominated by Democrats. Of the 13 federal courts of appeal, 9 are controlled by Democrats and 4 are controlled by Republicans. So a Blue circuit court might determine that religious organizations must give their female employees access to contraception through their health plans while a Red circuit court will uphold the religious right (and membership therein) of the organization say “Nicht”.

Because of this attorneys on their own ideological missions shop the different circuits to find a case to bring to them which should result in the desired verdict. This colorful patchwork of legal opinions and ideologies among the circuit courts serves to resurrect the rootin’, tootin’, shootin’ days of the Old West where every town had its own laws and ordinances. So, in some cases you can in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco but you can’t in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in Louisiana’s three districts. But in both circuits same-sex marriage is protected by the Constitution. Go figure.

So, until McConnell is reduced to a quivering hulk of rebuked jelly by outrage of the American people—AKA voters—to accept and approve Obama’s SCOTUS nominee, chaos will reign among the lower federal courts. Voter ID, gun control, same sex marriage, the right to an abortion, etc., will vary from state to state instead of conforming to one, unified federal decision from SCOTUS establishing it as the (hopefully Liberal) law of the land–for now. That is until the next Republican president is handed SCOTUS vacancies and installs their own Scalia(s) to reverse as much of it as possible—again.

But until then, sit back with your favorite snack and beverage and watch the fight. Who knows how long it will last? And who will history determine was the heavyweight and which was the lightweight? My guess is that when public outrage against this latest game of brinkmanship by the Republicans reaches firestorm level, McConnell’s political weight won’t even register on the scale.
