Trump Is A Sideshow Distraction, The Kochs And Their Ilk Are The Real Danger To Our Democracy

I’ve been saying this for months now. The Republicans already control Congress, the White House, SCOTUS, and have gained virtual control of the election process nationally and in most states.

Now their bosses, the Koch Brothers and others like them, having targeted the federal judiciary system. If they are successful, the Democrats will never, ever win back anything again and no “liberal” laws will ever be enacted. Those in effect now that the Kochs oppose will be struck down in the lower courts or be declared unconstitutional by the Koch employees on SCOTUS.

Stop focusing exclusively on the idiocy of Trump. It’s now clear he was intentionally put into office not only to do their bidding but mainly as a sideshow distraction.

The Kochs and their ilk have been pursuing this complete takeover for the past 45 years. They’ve been unwittingly aided and abetted by the neoliberals who seized control of the Democratic Party: the Carters, the Clintons, the Obamas, the Nacy Pelosis, the Debbie Wasserman Schulltzes, the Chuck Shumers, the Harry Reids, the Heidi Heitcamps, the John Warners, the Joe Manchins, the Jon Testers, the Chris Dodds, the Barney Franks, the congressional Black Caucus who backed Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders, etc.are all responsible for this. All the center of right gutless wonders who converted the Democratic Party into the Republican Lite Party.

We’re now paying for the fixation on building their own financial success as they pursued business-friendly legislation and warmongering at the expense of working to help make this country and the lives of the people who voted them into office better. If the Republicans are successful in further marginalizing and castrating the Democratic Party into total governmental impotence, then it will be our children and the ensuing generations to come who will continue to pay the price as well. I place full blame for the current state of this country, not on the Republicans but on the Democratic Party who enabled this to happen.

When It Comes To The Democratic Party I’m Beating A Dead Donkey

I just reviewed my most recent Farlefty.wordpress.com blog posts. I’ve been doing a lot of Democratic Party bashing. The reason for this is that I am unmitigatingly hostile towards them because they–Pelosi, Reid, Wasserman Schultz, Obama, the Clintons–got us into this mess where the Republicans have taken over and Trump was enabled to gain the presidency by election fraud and voter suppression. Bernie Sanders never had a chance, not with the DNC and the Hillary Clinton campaign running the show. The Dems have been so focused on being Republican Lite with the veneer of liberalism that it turned off the Liberal wing and never, ever gained traction with Republican voters, and way too briefly with Independent voters.
Obama squandered his opportunity to unite and fix this country by just being another neoliberal Democrat. Most voters felt he was elected in a bait-and-switch campaign and never forgave the Democrats for pulling such a mass deception on them. Doubt my word? What happened in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016? Obama was reelected in 2012 only because most voters hated Mitt Romney more. But the Dems continued to lose out on regaining the House in 2012 and then lost the Senate in 2014. The massive political hemorrhaging of the Dem Party continued in 2016 when they finally lost it all. So, in essence, I continue to beat a dead donkey.
ALL of this could have been avoided if the old guard Dems were tossed by power enabling the Party to finally turn Left and start pushing and passing LIBERAL legislation that the polls continue to say that most Americans want passed into law. The Dems failed us by continuing to fail themselves. And now they’re history, folks. The GOP controls the entire political game for top to bottom, from the corporate media to how elections are run and how votes are counted–or left uncounted or even uncast. It even controls the Supreme Court. And this is why I will remain hostile to the Democratic Party. The Republicans are now the only game in town and you can bet they will never allow any other party to set up a winning game of their own.

This story clearly illustrates how the Democratic Party is permanently fractured and is done being a political party of any consequence due to the continued attacks of the Clinton surrogates (why does Hillary Clinton continue to encourage her attack dog surrogates to go after Bernie and his wife? And why should she still need surrogates? Her political career is over), against Bernie Sanders. Sally Albright proves by her slam against “progressives” that Hillary Clinton has never been a progressive, let alone a liberal. And Peter Daou, like other Hillary surrogates, took a swipe at Bernie without bothering to check his facts first. It’s this divisive scum of the Democratic Party that show why they lost the presidential election and will continue to be the cause of the Democratic Party losing every coming election until either they’re all purged from the party or an actual Liberal political party is created.

Unfortunately there is no organized political party to mount any kind of strong political opposition to the Republicans. Fortunately, the GOP is at odds with itself as well. Unfortunately, it’s on a much smaller scale and will most likely be healed over after/if Trump resigns the presidency. Temporarily, but long enough to continue to win elections from here on out.

If there was truly any journalistic justice in the U.S., Greg Palast would be a multiple Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist for his investigative reporting, something not seen to much these days since the corporate media, owned primarily by huge, media communications corporations like Disney, Comcast, and Fox, control virtually everything we see, hear, and read. Palast had the documented goods on the 2000 election stolen by the Bush campaign and certified by the GOP employees appointed to the US Supreme Court for that very reason. Palast has been forced to pursue his investigations into the US political system from London, England, working as a freelance reporter for both the BBC and the Guardian, as well as writing a series of the best exposé books on who actually controls and runs the U.S. political system and the global economy.

 

This article is Palast warning us of what is to come because it’s been happening all along, unbeknownst to the majority of American voters who don’t read Greg Palast. I think 2018 is our final chance to stem this GOP tide of voter suppression which is election-after-election moving us further down the short road towards becoming a fascist dictatorship. Democrats must set aside all the fingerpointing between the Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton factions. We’re all in this together because, if the Trumps and the actual sources of power behind them have their way, we’ll all be imprisoned together and all elections will cease for everyone else.

President Donald Trump? It Could Happen

I’m thinking more and more that Donald Trump has a definite shot at winning the election. The biggest reason is, while just about everything he says is asinine, self-aggrandizing, unrealistic, childish, racist, warmongering, outright lies, etc., he sounds “sincere”. For a guy who was raised to feel and think he’s better and more entitled than everyone else, he knows how to make unintelligent and unknowledgeable, racist people believe he’s one of them. They can relate to him. He doesn’t hit heavy on the talking points like Hillary Clinton does. She delivers her talking points with sledgehammers. Trump makes up a lot of what he says on the spot so it is as unrehearsed as it sounds. With the coached talking points he still has a conversational, rah rah manner of speaking that goes over well with his voter base.

Contrast that to Clinton. Watch the video clip of her convention speech. When you hit a talking point like “And we will follow the money” that hard it can only fall flat–which it did for many of us home viewers. If her eyes had bugged out any more I’d worry that her body had been taken over by an alien life form. Maybe it has…

Trump is still hiding his tax returns and still hiding his true physical condition. You can look at the guy and see he’s not a specimen of perfect health. But he’s never stumbled off a curb and he’s never collapsed and been held up by one of his handlers. The image of Clinton’s display of physical weakness combined with the fact that she looks older than her age of 68 will remain in the minds of many voters in November. It seems like Trump is reversing the unofficial Clinton talking point: It’s now becoming voters dislike Trump but they hate Clinton.

Trump is hiding a lot from voters but it seems like this is his own decision based on reasons that would have ruled him out as a nominee in any other election year. But it comes across as him doing it on his own. With Clinton it does come across as a campaign conspiracy. Here’s a woman who talks about transparency yet you still don’t know what’s true and what’s been and is still hidden. Trump claims he’ll do all kinds of things as president and while he won’t be able to do most of them he comes across as being truthful–for Trump. With Clinton when she talks about taking on Wall Street and the banks you know that’ll never happen because all during her Senate career it never did. Only when both she and Trump start their warmongering do you believe them both.

If only Bernie Sanders hadn’t done his quick collapse, not taken the easy, the chicken way out he might’ve wound up being elected president after all.

 

The Progressive Knuckleheads

This morning it was amply demonstrated to me that there are just as many knuckleheads on the Left as there are on the Right. Leftist knuckleheads call themselves “Progressives” because, I guess, the word “Liberal” is too retro for them. Too passé, so yesterday ever since the GOP made the term an object of ridicule. This is what makes people who call themselves “Progressives” weak because they bought into the GOP-overlaid shame in the Liberal name. Bernie calls himself a Progressive and look what happened to HIM?

Anyway, I had a post on Facebook that was based on something my wife said to me last night. She said the election will not come down to a choice between the lesser of two evils. It will come down to a choice of voting for who you hate the least.

Turns out it was much too True Blue for the likes of one admin in a certain “Progressive” (always with a capital P, mind you) Facebook group and so it was deleted it. My wife’s comment spoke the absolute truth. Jill Stein has not one chance in any hell you can imagine, in any hell in this or any other universe or dimension of being elected president. The choice will not be between the lesser of two evils. It will come down to choosing which candidate you hate the least. Which also means that it might be possible that neither candidate gets the majority of the vote, Paul Ryan’s House of Representatives will elect Trump president and Mitch McConnell’s Senate will elect the Vice-President.

I’m fine with that and all it portends for SCOTUS. My conscience is clear because I supported Bernie Sanders who was the ONLY presidential candidate who would’ve beaten Trump or any other Republican presidential candidate hands down. The system is rigged for Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic nominee, and you reap what you sow. I did my time under Reagan, two Bushes, Clinton, and Obama and survived them all. I’ve existed quite well under Republican-controlled Supreme Courts and I’ll continue to live the civil-rights circumvented life their decisions have wrought, along with anti-civil rights legislation signed into law by Reagan, the two Bushes, Clinton, and Obama. Bill Clinton helped advance the decline of the middle class and of the labor union movement started by Reagan. Obama did nothing to reverse any of it, choosing to further help all of it along.

Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump—whoever is president—will finally push both the middle class and labor unions into the toilet and give it a quick flush to end both once and for all because that is who they’ve always been. Unless you’re a woman entrepreneur attempting a very small startup on some Caribbean island or in Africa or someplace (but somehow not in the good ol’ US of A). Then she has big innovative, technology-based ideas on how to help. Because creativity, innovation, technology, and internet access will lift all boats captained by poor, foreign women out of poverty, right? So they can shatter all those glass ceilings and take their rightful places alongside the male powerhouses that Hillary Clinton rubs shoulders with at her elevated, Mt. Olympian altitude high above us all. Too bad she has no innovative, technological ideas for how the internet can lift unemployed American male and female factory workers up to those same exalted heights.

Same goes for all the taxicab drivers now put out of work by Uber. Or public school teachers thrown out of work after their school districts opted to go with charter schools. Or the other jobs and vocations of common folk made obsolete by all the creative, innovative, and technologically-minded Harvard and Yale Law School and MIT graduates-(Thomas Frank in his book “Listen. Liberal” calls the Clintons and the graduates I’ve described as being professionals of the Liberal Class) who’ve creatively innovated millions of people out of work and careers through technology (as well as Democratic/Republican funding and support for the startups created by the professionals of the liberal class who graduated from those Ivy League schools and from MIT.

The Bernie movement is now leaderless. It needs charismatic and brilliant, effective leaders to carry it forward. By next year it will most likely join the news archives with stories about the Occupy Movement. I think that successful mass, national organization along the lines of the Civil Rights and the Anti-Vietnam War movements are a thing of the past. We’re too polarized, too content to let posting on the internet substitute for vast marching in the streets. The political game and the corporate media are solidly and iron-clad aligned against us. Effective this year there is no longer is a political party home for Liberals. We’ve been cast adrift in a movement that I don’t think has been constructed sturdy politically seaworthy enough to carry us to any future destination where Liberals can change the system and win back America.

Once Again The Senate Republicans Play The Shutdown Game

I predicted this would happen because the Repugnant-cons are entirely predictable in holding SCOTUS hostage, in effect, shutting it down for at least the next year and a half to play partisan politics, gambling that one of the Republican clowns inside the candidate car will find his way into the White House. If Bernie Sanders is elected president and McConnell loses his gamble, would he then try to go for double or nothing by extending the SCOTUS shutdown through 2018 hoping to add even more Republicans to Congress? Let would be his legacy going into 2020 when he will be up for reelection to the Senate.

Now, it is possible that the eight remaining justices will still hear cases already on the Court schedule. Some of the cases might be relatively easy for them to arrive at an unanimous decision, or at least 5-3. But an Affordable Care Act case where the ideological lines are drawn 4-4 with no swing votes to tip the decision one way or the other, well, what happens then? Kick it back down to a lower court for it to be kicked back up some time in the near or distant future when the Court is once again at full strength? How many other unheard cases would be sitting smack dab atop the Ideological Divide? This isn’t the Senate. You can’t bring in Joe Biden to cast the tie-breaking vote. This is what I mean by the Republicans shutting down SCOTUS because when it comes to those big, high profile cases concerning gun control or state anti-abortion laws and such, the justices will be able to decide nothing.

Mitch McConnell is claiming that a lame duck president doesn’t speak for the American people, therefore, Obama has no right to name a replacement for the not-so-dearly departed Antonin Scalia. What doesn’t McConnell understand about the Constitution? The one thing Scalia sometimes got right is that you don’t screw with certain sections of it. The president is elected to a four-year term, period. His power and authority are not diminished in his final year. Although Obama’s overall approval rating isn’t great, he still has enough support from these same American people–who voted him into office–to choose a replacement justice that the Senate Republicans should confirm.

But, that’s fine. This is an election year. Let the Republicans play their latest shutdown game again. President Obama and the Democrats should and hopefully will start a major media campaign urging the American people AKA voters to make it loud and clear that the Republicans don’t speak for THEM. That they already spoke for themselves when they reelected Obama president in 2012.
