Don’t Lash Out At Bernie Sanders (The Messenger) Because You Don’t Accept The Truth Of His Message

Yeah, this commentary is very similar to the one I posted 2 days ago. But the news article is more vitriolic in its attack on Bernie Sanders and I will not let that go by, especially when it’s so wrong-headed and incendiary and because…Bernie and his words should not be the subjects of these attacks. Once again, blinkered people are lashing out in the wrong direction and at the wrong person. Trump and his admin, Mitch McConnell, and Paul Ryan are legitimate targets for wrath and outrage. Once again, if these black critics of Bernie are Democrats, all they’re doing is further polarizing and weakening the Democratic Party. Yes, Bernie is an Independent. Yes, Bernie’s weak spot has alway been in effectively discussing black issues. But compare his record on civil rights with that of many white Democrats in Congress. And of the first black president of the United States.

And that’s why this article is full of crap. Just because Obama was the first black president he should be exempt from criticism? He gets special dispensation on observance (I won’t say anniversary) of the date of MLK Jr.’s assassination. What does one have to do with the other?

John F. Kennedy was the first Catholic president–yet every year on and around the date of his assassination there are documentaries both praising and criticizing him and his presidency. There is much to criticize his presidency about. And something else that this writer so all in a huff didn’t mention. MLK Jr. was assassinated because he had become so a strong voice for equal civil rights for blacks. Yet black men are being murdered by cops–both white and black–several times a week right now. Poverty and unemployment remain endemic among the black population and the Dems and Obama when they had the chance and the power did nothing to alleviate it. In 2014, the Dems helped pass and Obama signed the Farm Act of 2014 which slashed SNAP benefits over 10 years by $8.7 BILLION.

So, I don’t want to hear from all the outraged “Barack Obama supporters” black celebrities how Bernie was out of line to make the speech he did. Black celebrities should join his outrage that 50 years later on the date King was killed, not a lot has changed as far as civil rights. And currently, even the most important civil rights have been and continue to be eroded. In other words, not much as changed and the Trump admin–especially Attorney General Jeff sessions–is working to reverse as many civil rights gains and advances as executive orders and policies can achieve.

Only the limited thinkers and close-minded loudly call for the death of the messenger when they refuse to accept the truth of his message. And the truth supersedes everything, including the messenger and the day the message was delivered. And while you black celebrities are at it, please show me another white politician who has so vehemently defended civil rights for EVERYONE and in turned lashed out and fought against those who have dedicated themselves to depriving all Americans who aren’t “them” of these constitutionally-mandated civil rights. You can’t. You need Bernie’s voice out there. Stop trying to shut him up.

Bernie Sanders Tone Deaf? It’s Not All Black And White

sub-buzz-10766-1522967909-9

https://www.buzzfeed.com/rubycramer/bernie-sanders-revolution-needs-black-voters-to-win-but-can?utm_term=.au5DEG8dr#.faQ8wvEW9

What do you think? Does Bernie still remain tone deaf to what he says or fails to say to black audiences? Bakari Sellers, one of Bernie’s critics here, was a Hillary Clinton supporter so his criticism can be discounted and discarded The very fact that he supported Clinton shows his own ignorance as to which politicians support black issues and which ones don’t. He totally gets it wrong about Bernie dismissing Obama’s presidency “with utter arrogance and lack of self-awareness.”

Joshua DuBois, is an Obama loyalist whose comments can also be discarded as partisan, being obviously loyal to Obama who really didn’t do that much for black families and individuals during his neoliberal, Bill Clinton 2.0 presidency.

Yes, Obama was the first black president. But please show me all the initiatives his admin pushed that would have benefited black people. What did his attorney general, Eric Holder–a black man who previously worked for Bill Clinton, to do stop mortgage lenders from redlining first time black home mortgage applicants or black homeowners attempting to refi their homes? And how about Obama’s failure to order the DOJ to extract FULL financial retribution for all the homeowners–owned by all ethnicities alike–defrauded out of their homes after the 2007-2008 financial meltdown. And how about Obama’s refusal to make the banks and investment banks (like Goldman Sachs) REALLY pay for decimating retirement accounts through illegal and unethical investment deals? t was Obama’s CEO buddies at Bank of America, Citibank, and JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and others behind those actions who emerged legally and personally financially unscathed

How strongly did he have Holder fight all the Republican Voter ID laws that discriminated heavily against black voters? Or against the Republican-gerrymandered congressional districts that effectively neutralized the black vote in many Red states? Any how many of you remember that Obama signed into law the 2014 Farm Bill, passed by both parties in both houses of Congress, the cut $8.7 BILLION from the SNAP program over 10 years?

THIS is the President Obama that Bernie is tell black people about, if he could only get his message past his tone deaf and partisan black critics? And on a day observing Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination 50 years ago, it’s an even more important point to make. The point is that there was finally a black man elected president of the United States, and it didn’t change a thing. So must one be aware of what day it is before one tells the truth? Bernie’s speech in no way denigrated the memory of Dr. King. Just the opposite: it was the perfect day to make his comments, as I’ve already explained.

Another crucial point is that black voters just can’t blindly vote Blue. They–and all Democratic voters–most first demand and then vote for actual liberal politicians and candidates with the vision and guts to make changes to this country that must be made. No more Republicans in Democratic clothing. And the final point, which is a question: why IS it a white politician has to be the one to stand up and say all this to black people?

Trump Is A Sideshow Distraction, The Kochs And Their Ilk Are The Real Danger To Our Democracy

koch-placeholder-promo

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/kochs-want-to-kill-this-senate-rule-heres-why/ar-BBDKsge?li=BBnb7Kz

I’ve been saying this for months now. The Republicans already control Congress, the White House, SCOTUS, and have gained virtual control of the election process nationally and in most states.

Now their bosses, the Koch Brothers and others like them, having targeted the federal judiciary system. If they are successful, the Democrats will never, ever win back anything again and no “liberal” laws will ever be enacted. Those in effect now that the Kochs oppose will be struck down in the lower courts or be declared unconstitutional by the Koch employees on SCOTUS.

Stop focusing exclusively on the idiocy of Trump. It’s now clear he was intentionally put into office not only to do their bidding but mainly as a sideshow distraction.

The Kochs and their ilk have been pursuing this complete takeover for the past 45 years. They’ve been unwittingly aided and abetted by the neoliberals who seized control of the Democratic Party: the Carters, the Clintons, the Obamas, the Nacy Pelosis, the Debbie Wasserman Schulltzes, the Chuck Shumers, the Harry Reids, the Heidi Heitcamps, the John Warners, the Joe Manchins, the Jon Testers, the Chris Dodds, the Barney Franks, the congressional Black Caucus who backed Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders, etc.are all responsible for this. All the center of right gutless wonders who converted the Democratic Party into the Republican Lite Party.

We’re now paying for the fixation on building their own financial success as they pursued business-friendly legislation and warmongering at the expense of working to help make this country and the lives of the people who voted them into office better. If the Republicans are successful in further marginalizing and castrating the Democratic Party into total governmental impotence, then it will be our children and the ensuing generations to come who will continue to pay the price as well. I place full blame for the current state of this country, not on the Republicans but on the Democratic Party who enabled this to happen.

Obama WAS The Special Interests President

The story headline “In Chicago, Obama tells young leaders that ‘special interests dominate the debates in Washington’” is is total crap. From day one Obama was all about pleasing special interests by funneling unrestricted bailout funds to Goldman Sachs and the investment/banking industries in general. Yes, TARP was a Bush initiative but Obama and his special interest lackeys, Larry Summers and Timothy Geithner, made it like they were proprietors overseeing kids in a candy store, even giving out handfuls of candy, aka taxpayer funds, to kids like every day was Halloween night. The banksters knowingly and intentionally committed global financial fraud and not one CEO paid the legal price. We all paid for the bailout and not ONE institution was required to change how they do business to prevent it from happening again. Dodd-Frank? Please…

They’re still selling the same derivatives (under new names) and other unsafe “investment products” that are again propelling the financial industry to another meltdown. The housing bubble is building again (checked out home prices lately?) and once again it WILL burst.

Remember Obama’s pushing through of all those trade pacts? We’re now just learning of some of the secret offshore accounts owned by American citizens and corporations housed in Panama banks. Remember how he also tried to push the TPP and the Keystone XL crude oil pipeline? How about his months-long silence and hands off policy with the Dakota Access pipeline?  Additional construction of nuclear plants? Pushing charter schools to the detriment of public schools? The Obama presidency was all about special interests, except for the middle and low income classes. I guess we didn’t hold much special interest for him.

Obama didn’t do a damn thing to unify anyone. If he had, we’d have a Democrat in the White House, a Democratically-controlled Congress, and Merrick Garland, as flawed as he was, would be the 9th Justice sitting on the SCOTUS bench.

The Obama administration will not go down in history for what it was but for its failure to become what it could have been. If his “aspiration” was to unify Blue and Red states, why did he do so much to polarize all of us?

Trump, the Second Colored President Of The United States

donald-trump

I’m convinced that all the racists who hated Obama were not opposed to Obama because he was the first colored president. He was just the wrong color. None of them wanted a black president. They want a fluorescent, phony tan colored president.

John Boehner proved that for the GOP orange was the acceptable new black. I guess fluorescent, phony tan is the new orange…

Only White Presidents Are Referred To As “President” In The Corporate News Media

Racism is on full display on NPR and at least CBS Radio News. Throughout Dubya’s eight years every news program referred to him as President Bush. With Barack Obama (and you can check the audio archives) he was referred to as “Obama” in every news story that I heard during his eight years in office. I bet he’ll still be referred to as “Obama” instead of “Former President Obama”. Never or hardly ever “President Obama”. And now Trump has only been in the White House for 4 days and in every news story he’s either “Donald Trump” or “President Trump”. Yes, racism is alive and all too well in the corporate news media.

The Progressive Knuckleheads

This morning it was amply demonstrated to me that there are just as many knuckleheads on the Left as there are on the Right. Leftist knuckleheads call themselves “Progressives” because, I guess, the word “Liberal” is too retro for them. Too passé, so yesterday ever since the GOP made the term an object of ridicule. This is what makes people who call themselves “Progressives” weak because they bought into the GOP-overlaid shame in the Liberal name. Bernie calls himself a Progressive and look what happened to HIM?

Anyway, I had a post on Facebook that was based on something my wife said to me last night. She said the election will not come down to a choice between the lesser of two evils. It will come down to a choice of voting for who you hate the least.

Turns out it was much too True Blue for the likes of one admin in a certain “Progressive” (always with a capital P, mind you) Facebook group and so it was deleted it. My wife’s comment spoke the absolute truth. Jill Stein has not one chance in any hell you can imagine, in any hell in this or any other universe or dimension of being elected president. The choice will not be between the lesser of two evils. It will come down to choosing which candidate you hate the least. Which also means that it might be possible that neither candidate gets the majority of the vote, Paul Ryan’s House of Representatives will elect Trump president and Mitch McConnell’s Senate will elect the Vice-President.

I’m fine with that and all it portends for SCOTUS. My conscience is clear because I supported Bernie Sanders who was the ONLY presidential candidate who would’ve beaten Trump or any other Republican presidential candidate hands down. The system is rigged for Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic nominee, and you reap what you sow. I did my time under Reagan, two Bushes, Clinton, and Obama and survived them all. I’ve existed quite well under Republican-controlled Supreme Courts and I’ll continue to live the civil-rights circumvented life their decisions have wrought, along with anti-civil rights legislation signed into law by Reagan, the two Bushes, Clinton, and Obama. Bill Clinton helped advance the decline of the middle class and of the labor union movement started by Reagan. Obama did nothing to reverse any of it, choosing to further help all of it along.

Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump—whoever is president—will finally push both the middle class and labor unions into the toilet and give it a quick flush to end both once and for all because that is who they’ve always been. Unless you’re a woman entrepreneur attempting a very small startup on some Caribbean island or in Africa or someplace (but somehow not in the good ol’ US of A). Then she has big innovative, technology-based ideas on how to help. Because creativity, innovation, technology, and internet access will lift all boats captained by poor, foreign women out of poverty, right? So they can shatter all those glass ceilings and take their rightful places alongside the male powerhouses that Hillary Clinton rubs shoulders with at her elevated, Mt. Olympian altitude high above us all. Too bad she has no innovative, technological ideas for how the internet can lift unemployed American male and female factory workers up to those same exalted heights.

Same goes for all the taxicab drivers now put out of work by Uber. Or public school teachers thrown out of work after their school districts opted to go with charter schools. Or the other jobs and vocations of common folk made obsolete by all the creative, innovative, and technologically-minded Harvard and Yale Law School and MIT graduates-(Thomas Frank in his book “Listen. Liberal” calls the Clintons and the graduates I’ve described as being professionals of the Liberal Class) who’ve creatively innovated millions of people out of work and careers through technology (as well as Democratic/Republican funding and support for the startups created by the professionals of the liberal class who graduated from those Ivy League schools and from MIT.

The Bernie movement is now leaderless. It needs charismatic and brilliant, effective leaders to carry it forward. By next year it will most likely join the news archives with stories about the Occupy Movement. I think that successful mass, national organization along the lines of the Civil Rights and the Anti-Vietnam War movements are a thing of the past. We’re too polarized, too content to let posting on the internet substitute for vast marching in the streets. The political game and the corporate media are solidly and iron-clad aligned against us. Effective this year there is no longer is a political party home for Liberals. We’ve been cast adrift in a movement that I don’t think has been constructed sturdy politically seaworthy enough to carry us to any future destination where Liberals can change the system and win back America.

If anyone has any words of solace or hope, please post them now. Thanks.
