Your Average White Supremacist – A Rebel Without A Thought

http://www.npr.org/2017/10/30/560767446/in-shelbyville-tenn-proud-to-be-white-and-hate-is-not-the-solution

This is the kind of mind with its limited thinking we’re up against in our battle against white supremacists. Not only listen to what the woman attending the white supremacist rally has to say but also the WAY she says it. She’s fairly inarticulate in expressing exactly what her ideology is, falling back on right wing hate speech talking points. But listen to her nervous laughter as she speaks them. She sounds embarrassed to speak her mind. Is she not so sure her point of view is right? Does she fear she’s coming across as a typical white supremacist instead of someone instilled with pride of the South?

“We just want to be left alone. That’s it.” She’s asked who isn’t leaving her alone and she can’t articulate a coherent answer that isn’t a talking point. These aren’t her own ideas; they were given to her. She really has no identity or ideology of her own. I would imagine she isn’t well-read or up on any issues of any kind other than keeping immigrants away from her and demanding no federal controls over the guns she chooses to own. And that she should be free to discriminate against whoever she chooses. All she knows is that she wants the federal government to leave her alone, without thinking of the implications and repercussions of what would happen if the feds left her alone and withdrew every single bit of federal money that keeps the meager economy of where she lives alive. In my opinion, people like her just fail to think things through. It’s much easier to be told what to think if it sounds right (in other words, simple and easy to understand) to them.

“We just want to be left alone”. Keep in mind, she wants to be left alone yet she DROVE ALL THE WAY FROM HER UNSPECIFIED TOWN IN SOUTHERN VIRGINIA TO SHELBYVILLE, TENNESSEE to tell NPR and anyone else who might listen that she just wanted to be left alone. If she did just want to be left alone, she should’ve stayed home. No one was bothering her there, right?

“Well, today you have people who, you know, I’m a Christian, you know, Christian background, so I have virtues and values. And things that they are promoting out, you know, like on commercials and stuff like that, you know, that stuff’s not right to me. I mean, I’m not…

NPR: Like what? Like, what’s something that really bothers you?

“You know, the LBGT stuff. I don’t agree with that stuff. I mean, I don’t hate those people, but if they want to be that, that’s fine, but don’t shove it down my throat, you know? And as far as multiculturalism – you know, every commercial you see on TV, it shows that multiculturalism. Why? Why is that? What – are they trying to paint a picture (laughter)?”

Didn’t Jesus preach that we should accept and love everyone? Doesn’t this form the basis of the Christian religion? So exactly what virtues and values does she have? She never says. She expands only on what she doesn’t like. And she says in another paragraph “I’m proud of what my ancestors made me and I’m proud of what my ancestors did because they fought for my state, my homeland…”

What she’s saying is that she’s proud her ancestors made her white and that they fought to preserve slavery. Don’t know about you but when anyone talks about their homeland, visions of Adolph Hitler and the Nazis come to mind. And what a coincidence that the NPR reporter states that at that white supremacist rally “There were chants that conjured Nazi ideology.” It is not only the “liberals” making the connection between white supremacist ideology and Nazism.

What About Bill Cosby?

Concerning Netflix’s cancellation of “House of Cards”: think of the millions and millions Netflix will be paying out to cast and crew on that show either just starting or in the middle of their contracts. Netflix knew it will be taking a financial bath over this decision. But, they saw public reaction to Harvey Weinstein, Mark Halperin, James Toback, Bill O’Reilly and others take down their careers so Netflix followed suit.

But this brings a thought to mind: why wasn’t this same firestorm of public and media vehement outrage brought to bear on Bill Cosby? Most of the women who have come out with their accusations of being drugged and on some occasions raped have been met mostly with suspicion; their word against hiss. True, Cosby’s career has also been destroyed, but look how many years it took, and he’s still fighting lawsuits. And he still has his reputation and fan base in some regions of this country. Why does he get a pass? Every one of the men I mention has been quickly convicted for their alleged acts of sexual harassment and rapes.

With Cosby, for the most part the jury is still out. Why? If all the allegations are true, he is as much or more of a monster than any of those men because he drugged those women to have his way with their unconscious bodies. And like Weinstein and O’Reilly, he has paid out millions of dollars in civil lawsuit settlements with non-disclosure clauses. It’s time to throw him on top the garbage heap, too.

Will The GOP Hold Itself To A Higher Standard Or A Double Standard?

gettyimages-681529300

“Hey, Sergey! I got Sergey here confused with you and told HIM all our classified secrets. You wanna poison him here or wait till you get him back to my hotel?”

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-revealed-highly-classified-information-to-russian-foreign-minister-and-ambassador/ar-BBBaWuJ?li=BBnb7Kz

This is it. We’ve just started down the path to Trump’s impeachment. Unless the Republicans choose to show the world they have a double standard when it comes to impeaching presidents.  Bill Clinton was tried (which was a pre-arranged deal between the Democrats and the Republicans anyway) for lying under oath about having sex with an intern inside the Oval Office.

We’re about to find out if allegedly divulging code word classified information to a Russian minister and ambassador INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE is a textbook definition of treason, to add to his growing list of high crimes and misdemeanors already committed by the guy while sitting in the office of the president. I mean, does putting our country at serious risk of being compromised by the sociopathic Russian president who has access to his own nuclear codes rise to the same level as the Satyr-in-Chief telling fibs about getting a blowjob under the Oval Office desk?

We’re about to find out. The Congressional Republicans are now calculating how many black and otherwise Democratic voters they’ll have to purge from the voter rolls using Kris Kobach’s Interstate Crosscheck program to win the midterm elections next year. They’re about to hear Kobach tell them, “You’re gonna need a bigger vote.”

United Airlines Goes Too Far, But The Airline And The CEO May Get Away With It

Dr.-David-Dao

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/david-dao-united-airlines-injuries-reconstructive-surgery-tom-demetrio-concussion-broken-nose-lost-a7682766.html

United Airlines CEO Oscar Muñoz must be forced to resign without his golden parachute (wishful thinking for the latter on my part) and those three thugs who O’Hare and the city of Chicago all “airport cops” need to be fired and brought up on criminal assault charges, besides also being sued in civil court for their violating Dao’s civil rights, their violent behavior and the physical damage they wreaked on Dr. David Dao.

Unfortunately, the worst that might happen to Muñoz is he might lose his $500,000 bonus. Oh well, if the Board of Directors and stockholders allow him to keep his job, he’ll still be more-than-well compensated. To those guys 500 large is chump change. Guys like him more than make up for losses of income like that with dividends from other investments and other forms of corporate compensation.

An attorney for a law firm thinks that UA is on “solid ground legally”. Really? They wanted Dr. Dao’s and the three other seats so staff from a partner airline could take those seats for a connecting flight. Really? United and the airport police gave not one whit that Dao was on his way to Kentucky to treat patients who were waiting expectantly for him. He was intent on performing needed medical services. He was doing something for sick people. And the people who United wanted to give seats to? Employees of a sister airline who just wanted to get someplace as quickly as possible no matter who they inconvenienced. The feeling of corporate entitlement must have been flowing down from the top of the corporate ladder down to them.

But–you don’t take seats away from paying passengers who are already sitting in them. You don’t treat passengers like their illegal aliens that ICE agents are forcibly arresting and removing from the plane (which ICE should be legally barred from doing anyway). And why were only the unclothed and unshorn common rabble chosen to de-seat? Not one frequent flyer sitting in first class was even approached. The big money passengers are always immune from it all, based on their big money and how they or their corporations spend it on United flights and how often. It’s open season on his poor folk, folks.

Dr. Dao will sue United Airlines and collect a very nice settlement unless he is intent on having his day in court. But this is the exactly the kind of incident where the injured and humiliated passenger might either sue the airline, O’Hare, and Rahm Emanuel’s Chicago, or come back to the airport with a gun and take revenge that way.

This is things gone too far as the ultimate result of unfettering the airlines from close federal oversight with the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978. It’s fostered a Wild West attitude has turned the skies and the airports unfriendly for passengers and most profitable for the airlines.  Thanks, Jimmy Carter! This is a stark example of how Corporate America feels its been empowered by the federal government it owns to treat customers how ever the how it wants because the laws are written to allow CEOS to legally get away with instituting these aggressive anti-customer actions. Some stories are calling Dr. Dao case the beginning of the movement to hold corporations legally accountable for their actions and to reverse this feeling of entitlement which makes corporations think they can do whatever they want.

Unfortunately, if Dr. Dao and other passengers who most certainly will file lawsuits against United, the airport, those three cops, and the city will agree to a settlement where the terms are sealed and all parties are forbidden to ever discuss the settlement details. Without United, the airport, and Emanuel’s Chicago being found guilty in a court of law, none of this behavior will change. But isn’t it fortunate for United Airlines that in this post-deregulation era, people will still be forced to fly that airline because there aren’t very many other choices left. For some flight destinations, UA may be the only choice. So interesting the way Congress, the White House, the FAA, and the DOJ has set this up.

Senate Democrats Have A Short Memory When It Comes To Neil Gorsuch

Before the Senate Democrats get too self-righteous in their opposition to Neil Gorsuch’s nomination, let us reflect that back in 2006 they had no such problem being part of a unanimous voice vote that approved his nomination to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Those senators had to know that someday his name might come up as as SCOTUS nominee but once again Harry Reid played the good little compliant but spineless soldier for George W. Bush.

The Senate Dems knew all about Gorsuch’s right wing, arch strict constructionist viewpoint back then and they were completely cognizant of his mother, who resigned in disgrace and under allegations of corruption (after running the EPA into the ground) in 1983.

This is why I remain totally disgusted with the Democratic Party. As always with the Dems it’s far too little and far too late to be of any help to anyone. Once again they handed total victory to the Republicans last November. Attempting to stand up on their tiny little legs and shout their indignation at all Trump is doing (which their election trouncings made possible) in their tiny little voices just further underscores that there is no longer any viable opposition to the GOP. The Dems may try to saddle all the blame for the certain ruination of our country and possibly the world on Trump. But my their ineptness and corruption amply displayed in the last election, they have no one else to blame but themselves.

Donald Trump–Quitter-In-Chief?

http://www.bbc.com/news/38261374

“Donald Trump to stay as Apprentice executive producer”

This is one reason why I agree with Michael Moore’s prediction that Trump may quit before he assumes the presidency. At the very least I don’t expect Trump to serve out his entire term. I think he puts more value on his business investments and his income than he does on being the leader of one of the most powerful countries on earth (in many ways China has become more powerful and Putin’s strengthening Russia by increments to return it to its USSR state).

I’ve believed from the start of Trump’s campaign that he will refuse to sell off his holdings or put them all into a blind trust for the duration. I’ve also said no way will Trump accept a pay cut to be president. Trump has yet to show that he has ANY interest in being president. Look at his cabinet nominees. He’s taken a perverse joy in naming people either totally unqualified for the job or people who hate the agency or department they have been named to head. He plans to install people who will reverse decades-long policies and remove protections we’ve come to depend on. What he plans to bring to the federal government is outright anarchy as well as open rebellion and conflict across America as battle lines are drawn between the far right wing and everyone else. And then he’ll step aside and let President Mike Pence deal with it all.

I expect that if all of these nominees are confirmed by the Senate and President Trump or Pence allows them to ride roughshod over the Constitution and attempt to return the USA to the dark ages of the 18th, 19th, and first half of the 20th centuries, it will once again be the overreach of the GOP which will bring them crashing down along with the country. Huge, severe damage will be done that will take decades to reverse–if we have that much time left. That may mean the end of the GOP as we’ve known it unless they permanently fix the electoral system so that they never lose again.

However, the problem remains that while the implosion of the GOP is still imminent, the Democratic Party implosion already happened, thanks to Hillary Clinton and the DNC. The party has never been the same since the coup d’etat in 1963 when JFK was murdered, followed by LBJ pursuing victory in Vietnam to his own political destruction and that of the country. So, while there’s a vacuum on the Left, Trump is about to create one on the Right. Who will step in to fill it is too worrisome to contemplate now, considering the possibilities we presently have to choose from. Trump is no Hitler but Pence’s successor very well could be.

Lousy Housekeeper Paul Ryan Keeps Things Broken

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/ryan-scores-dual-wins-with-obamacare-repeal-vote/ar-AAgshBU?li=BBnb7Kz\

Paul Ryan is a lousy housekeeper. That’s to be expected from a man who grew up in a privileged household were the hired help were the housekeepers.  So it’s also to be expected that he’s not doing so good on two promises he made when he was elected Speaker of the House: to fix a”broken” House and the House would work to pass legislation that would raise incomes and help lift people up out of poverty.

“Ryan Scores Dual Wins With Obamacare Repeal Vote” says the headline of the linked article. This shows how insulated D.C. beltway pundits are from what is actually happening in America. Ryan gained no victories with anyone other than Republicans who want Obamacare repealed and Planned Parenthood defunded. For the rest of us this is GOP-business-as-usual with yet another attempt at repealing Obamacare. With a Democrat-controlled Congress, neither of those bills pass their respective chambers of Congress.

These are not wins for Ryan or any Republican. These are yawns, as how boring, more of the same.  “’The good news is, with this reconciliation bill, there will finally be some clarity,’ Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) told the Washington Post Tuesday. ‘The president will very glibly veto it. But at least then it will be on him and everybody will know it.’”

And while you’re being so glib with your comment, Franks, that work so well with your constituents in Republican-controlled Arizona, get it through your thick skull that there are tens of millions more of Americans who not only approve but depend on Obamacare for their affordable healthcare plans.

OK, you’re asking “Who’s Trent Franks? THIS is Trent Franks: “In this country, we had slavery for God knows how long. And now we look back on it and we say “How brave were they? What was the matter with them? You know, I can’t believe, you know, four million slaves. This is incredible.” And we’re right, we’re right. We should look back on that with criticism. It is a crushing mark on America’s soul. And yet today, half of all black children are aborted. Half of all black children are aborted. Far more of the African American community is being devastated by the policies of today than were being devastated by policies of slavery. And I think, What does it take to get us to wake up?” (from politicalcorrection.org 2/26/10 quoting from an interview Franks gave to Mark Starks of starksreport.com)

Let’s dispense with Frank’s insincere apology for slavery. His point was that unspecified policies of today are far more devastating to the African-American community than slavery ever was. This is the type of Republican who has repeatedly voted to overturn Obamacare. So with the backing of this kind of Congressman, exactly what was the victory for Ryan again?

The dual victory is all Obama’s. The first victory will be President Obama’s when he vetoes this worthless piece of partisan effluent.  The victory would be that much sweeter if Obama first looks at the bill with pen raised and with a smile quotes Ronald Reagan: “There you go again.”

The second victory for the president is, in this article’s own words, “the issue is likely now settled until after the election.”

After the election we hopefully will be looking at a much different Congress than the Republican-controlled one which insists on making life harder for tens of millions of financially struggling poor Americans and further victimizing low-income women in dire need of medical care—legal abortions and otherwise.
