Trump And Ryan Prove Comedy Is Easy, Governing Is Hard

It’s great to see two overly-cocky, buffoon blowhards brought down in front of the world. Paul Ryan thought the AHCA was a done deal. It’s a poor leader who overestimates his leadership abilities. But then the intelligence and abilities of Ryan have always been overestimated by the his own party and by the corporate media. If it wasn’t for his outsized ego based on no tangible evidence of any foundation for it, he would resign the Speakership. But only a total idiot would choose to be Speaker of the House with this GOP in the majority, Ryan has been that idiot since October 2015.

Trump’s blaming the failure of the bill on the Democrats. Trump came into his fraudulently-won presidency thinking it was all government by executive order, that he would run the federal government and the entire country as just mere Trump corporate subsidiaries. Except for the hard core delusional who still think Trump’s doing a great job, his own party now has proof of his ineptitude and his failure to grasp reality as he lives in his delusional world within his suite at the Mar-A-Lago.

Both men have been shown that it’s easy to oppose and talk big in superlatives and lies. In other words, comedy is easy, actual governing is hard, very hard. And neither are cut out fo the work.

Now, the only real and present danger is Turtle Man McConnell fast tracking the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to SCOTUS. Not sure if the coming Democratic filibuster will do nothing more than delay that vote but with this display of the total lack of Trump and Ryan’s influence on their own party, maybe the Dems have a shot providing another embarrassing setback for the GOP if somehow they can turn aside the Gorsuch nomination, which is a long shot.

Senate Democrats Have A Short Memory When It Comes To Neil Gorsuch

Before the Senate Democrats get too self-righteous in their opposition to Neil Gorsuch’s nomination, let us reflect that back in 2006 they had no such problem being part of a unanimous voice vote that approved his nomination to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Those senators had to know that someday his name might come up as as SCOTUS nominee but once again Harry Reid played the good little compliant but spineless soldier for George W. Bush.

The Senate Dems knew all about Gorsuch’s right wing, arch strict constructionist viewpoint back then and they were completely cognizant of his mother, who resigned in disgrace and under allegations of corruption (after running the EPA into the ground) in 1983.

This is why I remain totally disgusted with the Democratic Party. As always with the Dems it’s far too little and far too late to be of any help to anyone. Once again they handed total victory to the Republicans last November. Attempting to stand up on their tiny little legs and shout their indignation at all Trump is doing (which their election trouncings made possible) in their tiny little voices just further underscores that there is no longer any viable opposition to the GOP. The Dems may try to saddle all the blame for the certain ruination of our country and possibly the world on Trump. But my their ineptness and corruption amply displayed in the last election, they have no one else to blame but themselves.

Mitch McConnell Is Set To Let Slip The Dogs Of Judicial Chaos

So, what happens next in the battle for Scalia’s seat? Does Obama offer an “olive branch” SCOTUS nominee to the Senate, a judge with a corporate lawyer background who would be friendly to big business and moderate on most social issues? A candidate who would be a shoo-in with a rational, thinking person’s Senate devoid of the partisan political ideology of its hack Republican Majority Leader would order his people to approve? Judge Sri Srinivasan’s name is currently being floated as just such a possibility. Would McConnell dare pull down his drawers, squat down and crap on Obama, the nominee and the Constitution, using his butt in the effort to make a power grab?

Or, just to play with McConnell’s head and to further publicly embarrass him, does Obama nominate someone who is a real, certified REAL Liberal like State AG Kamala Harris of CA, for instance?

Last thing: Turtle Man is about to let slip the dogs of judicial chaos. In a split 4-4 SCOTUS decision or if the justices refuse to hear a case, the lower court decision stands. In the federal court system there are 12 circuits, most of them dominated by Democrats. Of the 13 federal courts of appeal, 9 are controlled by Democrats and 4 are controlled by Republicans. So a Blue circuit court might determine that religious organizations must give their female employees access to contraception through their health plans while a Red circuit court will uphold the religious right (and membership therein) of the organization say “Nicht”.

Because of this attorneys on their own ideological missions shop the different circuits to find a case to bring to them which should result in the desired verdict. This colorful patchwork of legal opinions and ideologies among the circuit courts serves to resurrect the rootin’, tootin’, shootin’ days of the Old West where every town had its own laws and ordinances. So, in some cases you can in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco but you can’t in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in Louisiana’s three districts. But in both circuits same-sex marriage is protected by the Constitution. Go figure.

So, until McConnell is reduced to a quivering hulk of rebuked jelly by outrage of the American people—AKA voters—to accept and approve Obama’s SCOTUS nominee, chaos will reign among the lower federal courts. Voter ID, gun control, same sex marriage, the right to an abortion, etc., will vary from state to state instead of conforming to one, unified federal decision from SCOTUS establishing it as the (hopefully Liberal) law of the land–for now. That is until the next Republican president is handed SCOTUS vacancies and installs their own Scalia(s) to reverse as much of it as possible—again.

But until then, sit back with your favorite snack and beverage and watch the fight. Who knows how long it will last? And who will history determine was the heavyweight and which was the lightweight? My guess is that when public outrage against this latest game of brinkmanship by the Republicans reaches firestorm level, McConnell’s political weight won’t even register on the scale.
